This is a lovely collection of cookies that will surprise and delight just about anyone. Although I dressed up this holiday cookie platter as a Christmas gift, it’d be perfect for any type of cold-weather celebration. Each one of these beautiful cookies just calls out for cocoa, coffee, mulled wine, or even a Hot Toddy.
The recipes below will produce enough cookies for eight platters. Each time I say “X-number cookies per platter,” I’m leaving plenty of extra cookies in the batch, so that you can choose the best-looking cookies for the platters, and have some leftover for yourself. Or, you could build more or larger platters.
Make These One Weekend
- Lemon Cranberry Snowdrops: 1 batch, 4 cookies per platter
- Sicilian Fig Cookies cookies: 1 batch, 4 cookies per platter
Make These the Next Weekend
- Homemade Tagalongs: 2 batches, 4 or 5 cookies per platter
- Florentines: 2 batches, 3 or 4 cookies per platter
Notes:
Most of the ingredients for these cookies can be purchased weeks if not months in advance.
The snowdrops should be refrigerated long-term. The other cookies can be kept indefinitely at room temperature – preferably someplace cool – in tightly sealed containers. Given those conditions, all of these cookies will taste great and have excellent textures for weeks.
If you split this work into two weekends, those will be pretty busy weekends. Given that these cookies keep well – and freeze perfectly – you could split this work up and do it well in advance of the holidays.
In keeping with my personal outlook on food, these cookies are nice to look at, but fantastic to eat. I tend to want to put the majority of my effort into making something that tastes amazing, and either coincidentally looks good, or take just a minimal amount of dressing up.

Great idea as a Christmas present Jeff. I’d be tempted to give them to myself though. Ha ha!

Have been eating lots of sweets and cookies, but I want your whole cookie platter! They look so good and you have dressed them up so beautifully.

Such a beautiful plate for everyone’s taste! So hard to pick one (And why would you need to choose one, right?!), but my favourite from this plate would definitely be the florentines and fig cookies!
Oh, I love those fig cookies. Thank you!
You’re very talented!

How does one get on your Christmas cookie list? GREG
(I don’t usually tell people this, but I only send cookies to people who wind up on the naughtly list!)
Anyone would be thrilled to get your cookie platter. I used to bake holiday cookies years ago and make huge platters to give to friends. Haven’t baked in 10 years now.
I always feel that a gift you make has a specialness to it. But I can imagine a day when I won’t have the stamina for that much baking.
Your cookies look so much better than some of the cookies we’ve received this year LOL. I give the gifters an A for effort though. But I’d like to be on your cookie gift list next year, please 😉

Anyone lucky enough to receive one of your holiday cookie platters will be so appreciative of all the effort you put into making this delicious gift.

Merry Christmas to you and your family Jeff. Hope your Christmas celebrations weren’t halted by the damn Covid. We had family and friends over and it was just lovely. Glad that the eating frenzy is over though.

Thanks, Eva! We had a wonderful Christmas, and I’m glad that you did, too.
I love all your platter ideas, but I’m most excited about the Sicilian fig cookies. I’ve been looking for a good recipe for those for a long time, it will definitely be trying your soon. Maybe it’ll be for Valentine’s Day?
Oh God, I love those Sicilian cookies! I make them every year. They’d be good any time of year.
Looks delicious! Presentation is great! Merry Christmas. Happy and healthy 2022.
Thank you so much, and Merry Christmas to you, too!
Oh, I wish I was your neighbor! What a great selection and right now I gave all my cookies away. For the best, though! Have a great happy and healthy new year, Jeff!

Cardinal rule: always keep some for yourself! But I do know what you mean, we’ve gone through all our Christmas cookies, too.
Sounds incredibly delicious 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
