Bonjour Cafe Bakery – in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood – bakes up authentically French pastries that are among the best in the city. I was incredibly excited to have them cater the desserts for my wedding.

Do-Rite Donuts & Coffee
Do-Rite Donuts and Coffee makes doughnuts in The Loop. Their buttermilk old-fashioned is the best in Chicago. (You can also get them at Star Lounge.)
Beurrage
Beurrage’s vanilla glazed doughnut is unparalleled. You can get them in the South Loop at La Haven, or at the source in Pilsen. If you’re not in a doughnut mood – if that’s possible – Beurrage makes fantastic pastries of all sorts.
Eating in Memphis
Eating in Memphis: ribs at Central BBQ, breakfast at Brother Juniper’s, a celebration of National Doughnut Day at Gibson’s Donuts, some coffee to go with those beautiful doughnuts at Otherlands, and a kick-ass pineapple chunk at Babalu.
Stan’s Donuts
My quest to find the best coffee and doughnuts in Wicker Park has led me to Stan’s.
Coffee, Free WIFI: West Town, Chicago
Looking for a West Town (or West Loop) Chicago cafe with good coffee, available electrical outlets, and free parking? With a nearby doughnut? Start out by dropping your knives off at Northwest Cutlery, walk around the block and hit Publican and then Glazed & Infused, then pick up your knives and head to Morgan-Randolph Starbucks to log on to their Wi-Fi so you can work or study.
Coffee, Free WIFI: Ravenswood, Chicago
Looking for free wireless in Ravenswood? Get some work done while sipping a Colombia Tres Santos pour over coffee from Ch’ava Cafe, on Clark and Leland, in Chicago.
Free Wi-Fi in Uptown Chicago, Pt. 3
Baker & Nosh (Wilson at Malden) has internet access, great coffee, good food, and nice bathrooms. It doesn’t have as many electrical outlets as I wish it did, but I recommend logging on here nonetheless – especially when the patio’s open. The patio’s nicer than anything else you’ll find in Uptown.
