Ridman’s Coffee in Uptown or Ravenswood – hard to know for sure – Chicago … at least we know it’s in Chicago, even if we’re not sure which neighborhood.
WIFI Hotspots with Coffee
This is a collection of café reviews (for the most part) – mainly independent coffeehouses, with a significant handfuls of Starbucks – with free WIFI, predominantly in Chicago. Each review aims to tell you whether or not the WIFI is good, the space lends itself to working (coworking) or studying, and/or whether the coffee is worthwhile. Plus, if there’s GOOD EATS to be had nearby, we do you a solid and hip you to it.
The Vader
Everybody’s Coffee, an Uptown Chicago café, makes a drink with espresso and Coke that they call “The Vader.” It has a caffeine punch that will awaken the force in you.
Star Lounge
Bearded aliens are barista-ing a Chicago café! It’s every speciesist’s worst nightmare! Details at 11. (In the meantime, stay away from Humboldt Park and stay far away from Star Lounge! They’re putting dark matter into their coffee!)
Everybody’s Coffee
Do you ever wonder what happened to The Jesus People? They’re alive and well, and among other things, they run Everybody’s Coffee on Wilson Ave in Uptown Chicago. “Everybody’s” is an oasis of interesting espresso drinks and excellent WIFI in an ever-shrinking “JJ Peppers” kind of hood. It’s quickly become one of my favorite coffeehouses. It a good example of the change taking place in this neighborhood.
La Haven: You can find find refuge here
La Haven, a South Loop Chicago coffeehouse, serves up La Colombe coffee as well as fantastic doughnuts and pastries. Ample seating and fast WIFI make La Haven an excellent café for coworking. Just a half-block from the traffic grief that is the intersection of Michigan and Roosevelt, you can find solace here.
Lincoln Park Starbucks at Fullerton & Racine
Once the baby boomers demolish Social Security, free sandwiches from the Lincoln Park Starbucks at Fullerton & Racine might be my only hope for retirement.
Coffee, Free WIFI: Lake View, Chicago
Uh, you guess it: it’s another café review. But look at that awesome silver cup! Terrific Turkish coffee, and you don’t have to worry about werewolves.
Jupiter Outpost
Jupiter Outpost: a Near West Chicago Café/Restaurant Review. This coffeehouse has everything: Free parking and wireless, excellent coffee, superb soup, meritorious sandwiches. A turtle.
